Super Tour Finals!

Last races of the season are over with. Right after Nationals in Whitehorse in flew straight down to Québec City and then drove 3 hours across the border to Fort Kent, Maine. It was a pretty fun format of races, sort of a "mini-tour". Three races in four days. The first race was a 10km mass start classic race. It was a pretty fun race, 100 people racing a mass start 10km can be pretty chaotic at times. I was happy with how the race went, except that I was forced out wide and almost into the fence by another racer at the finish and was unable to get a good sprint against Lenny Valjas. I finished 14th Open Man. The next race the day after was a classic sprint. I had a decent qualifier and placed 16th, but the heats didn't go super well. I was really slipping on the climbs and really had to work hard to make it up the hills. I was able to catch back up on the flats in double pole but didn't have enough to make top 2 and advance to the next heat. I ended up finishing 22nd at the end of the day. The last race was today, a 7km hill climb, straight up an alpine ski run. We didn't really have lots of time before our race because it was at a different site than the first two races. I didn't get to pre-ski the course so I didn't quite know what to expect. Turns out it was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. I was saving energy for this killer hard uphill everyone was talking about but I guess I saved a little too much energy and wasn't really that tired at the top of the climb. I should have pushed harder, earlier. I finished 26th, not too good. Overall I finished the mini-tour in 22nd place. Although I am not 100% content with my placings it was still a fun way to finish off the season!

Hi budy, you did great in the overall standing of the mini-tour...now that season is done, are you going back in Yukon or you stay in Qebec city? Ciao
