Still Skiing!

Training is back in full swing now and I'm starting to log some serious hours.  Thanks to a colder than normal May this year, I'm still skiing on snow!  I know most people in town probably arn't very happy about this, but I've been making the most of it.  Lately I've been skiing up at Fish Lake every other day or so.  Last week the skiing up there was perfect crust skiing!  It was starting to get a little icy the last couple days but then today I awoke to find several inches of fresh snow! I grabbed my skis and headed out the door.  I made my way up to Fish Lake in about 25 minutes by car from my house only to find that there was too much snow to skate ski!  I ended up doing an hour and 20min of double poling in the surprisingly wet and slow snow.  Below is a picture I took during a ski with the Yukon Ski Team yesterday (Tuesday the 15th).  The skiing was fast and icy.  The next picture is of (l-r) Logan Potter, Knute Johnsgaard, Colin Abbott double poling during our ski today in several inches of fresh powder.  At this rate, the skiing should still be good for another couple weeks!
