Long Story Short

So quite a bit has happened since my last post. First off; the Olympic qualifiers in Canmore, AB. We had two classic sprints, the winner of each race suppose to be going off to the Olympics. My races were pretty good as far as sprints go for me. The first race was my best where I finished 10th Open Man.

After Canmore I headed back home to Whitehorse for Christmas. I was back home for a week, its always nice to go back home for the holidays to see friends and family. I did one local skate sprint while I was back home which I managed to win! It’s always fun to race local races at home against the Whitehorse boys who I don’t get to compete with very often anymore.

After Christmas was the World U23 Championship Trials in Valcartier, Québec. I still don’t know exactly what happened there…I defiantly wasn’t at the top of my game. I think maybe I just hadn’t done enough races yet in the season and I wasn’t in good enough shape. Whatever the reason, I didn’t make the Canadian U23 World Ch

ampionships team. That was kind of a depressing weekend of racing for me, especially because out of all Senior Québec Training Center Team, I’m the only one not currently racing the big races in Europe.

But I will get my chance. On the 31st of January I jet off from Ottawa (I will leave from Ottawa because I will be there doing the Canadian Eastern Champs) to Switzerland. I have two weeks of European Cup races ahead of me, the first week in Switzerland and the second in Italy. So hopefully I will be able to redeem myself then.

But I’m getting ahead of myself, I still have two races I haven’t talked about yet. Last weekend I raced two Québec Cup races in St. Jérome, Québec. I managed to come out on top in both of the races, (a classic sprint and a 15km skate) which is always fun. And just today I raced another local race here in Québec City. It was a 15km classic race where I finished 2nd, 58sec behind Canadian World Cup team member Alex Harvey, who is currently ranked 20th in the world.

So things are starting to look good for my races over seas, I sure am looking forward to them!

Well that’s about all I can think of for now….
