Spring

Spring this year here in Whitehorse has been unusually warm, there is hardy any snow left in town, but the skiing up at the Skagway/White Pass Summit is still pretty, pretty nice. This past weekend I had a chance to get out there and it was some of the best skiing I've done this year. When the snow has a nice hard crust to it skate skiing is super fast and fun, there is no need for any grooming equipment, you can just ski anywhere you want and for as far as you want. I went for about a 15km ski, starting just past Fraser Canadian Customs, up and across Fraser Lake and up into the mountain range behind the lake. It was pretty neat to great view overlooking the Chilkoot Summit Pass. Here are a couple pictures from the ski:

Going up into mountains, you can see Fish Lake down in the Valley

A view From the top. You can see the the valley where the Chilkoot Trail passes through

A neat picture of some Canadian geese I took on the way home near Carcross.
