This past week the CNEPH team went to Montreal for a five day bike training camp. A typical day consisted of about a two hour bike workout on trainers, then an hour long workout in the evening, either roller skiing or running. Being inside an air conditioned room for the bulk of the training every day was actually pretty nice, since it was super hot all week (daily highs of around +33 or more). No one on our team trains too seriously on the bike, so the camp was a bit of a shock for legs, but it was really fun, I think that it’s good to change up the training and try new things every now and again. Everyone had their own bike, hooked up to trainers and a TV screen so we can see how many watts we are producing, our pedal RPM and how efficient our pedal strokes are. Every day we would warm up and then do some kind of an intensity workout. The first day we did a 20 minute race, the next day we did different levels of threshold intervals, the next we did a 3.5km race with some sprinting workouts…etc…Overall I quite enjoyed the camp and am happy I was able to learn a thing or two about how I can improve my biking!

Our camp in Montreal ended Friday afternoon, and we drove back to Quebec just in time to watch some of the World Mountain Bike Championships races, which were being held here in Mont Sainte Anne this year. I watched the cross country race, downhill, four cross and some trials events, it was pretty fun to see all the best guys in the world race the biggest race of the year!

This week we have another training camp, here in Mont Sainte Anne with the National Ski Team. All the guys that are based out west are here, so it’s a pretty big group but it should be a fun camp!

A couple weeks ago we also went to Boston to watch a Jays vs the Red Socks game and to Hampton Beach, New Hampshire for a couple days of surfing!

Here are a couple pics of the last couple weeks:
