Rossland

This past week I was in Rossland, BC for two more NorAm races.  A classic sprint and and classic mass start 15km.
The week didn’t start off very good as on the way to the races I was in a car crash.  Brent McMurtry and I were driving from SilverStar to Rossland and about halfway we hit some black ice, slammed into a concrete guardrail then slid off the road and bounced around in the ditch until we finally came to a stop.  Luckily we were both ok, but the car was a write off.  The Thunder Bay training center van happened to be driving by 10 minutes later so we hopped in with them for the remainder of the trip to Rossland.
The classic sprint was wasn’t so great either, somehow I managed to crash in a downhill in my qualifier and didn’t make the heats.
Luckily the mass start distance race was a lot better.  I was with the lead group for the first 5km until someone attacked and I and four others got dropped.  My new found group worked together and finished not far from the leaders.  I finished 8th (2nd U23), 43 seconds behind the winner.
Now Im back home for the holidays to spend some time with friends and family and hopefully play some hockey!
The next races for me are the U23 trial races in Callaghan Valley, BC.  The first race is January 12th.  If I can keep up with my training plan and stay healthy it should make for some good races!
