This weekend saw the NorAm/Canada Cup’s first races of the season. The races were held at the Sovereign Lake Ski Club, BC. Saturday was a classic sprint, and Sunday was a classic individual 15km.
The classic sprint didn’t go so well for me, I felt really flat, no snap in my legs. I qualified 26th, got knocked out in my quarterfinal and ended up in 24th place overall. I think I need a little more time to get some more punch in my sprinting.
The 15km classic was a lot better. It was a tough, slow course but I paced myself well and finished in 10th place (4th canadian and 1st U23 canadian). It’s a solid result for me at this time of the season, but there is still room for improvement. I think it’s a good indicator for good things to come!
Next up on the racing schedule is two more NorAm races in Rossland, BC next weekend.
