Yesterday (April 19th) the ski team decided to go for a nice long easy ski. Alain (our coach) planed out a route for us (about 55km) that we would take, that took us over about two mountain ranges. We started at the Whitehorse Ski Club and skied over to Mt Sima. Once we got to the top of Mt Sima, we had to cross a a large valley, in which quite a bit of snow accumulated over the past few days. I had some old Fischer Revolutions on which proved be very useful in the hard packed narrow trails, but once we got up on the top of the Mt. Sima I was sinking through the thin crust of snow up to my waist nearly every step I took, and this lasted for several hours....at that point I was not having much fun. But in the end we finally got through that frustrating valley and made our way up the the top of Mt. McIntyre and down a long road which eventually took us back to were we first started the journey....just over 9 hours earlier! I had nowhere near enough food and was not feeling too good near the end of our trek. This was probably not the best thing to do on my rest week, but now looking back in was fun....sort of.
